Snip-The-Tip Refrigerator Repair Legal Contract using the Thermistor Repair Kit for Norcold
Eula Terms and Conditions: This manual is for qualified service technicians only and the Snip-The-Tip thermistor should not be installed except by professional electronic service personnel of Norcold refrigerators or trained electronic technicians of RV refrigerator repair.
Snip-The-Tip is void of liability for incorrect installation of part and by installing this replacement thermostat the technician is acknowledging his duty and liability as such for correct installation of part. Also neither the manufacturer nor distributor warrant either the fix nor the hardware that is adjoined to the new thermistor fix, nor any users of product after installation.
Installation and/or purchase means acceptance of the terms and conditions.
Step 2. Observe the mechanical configuration and how to affix it to refrigerator wall to old mount holes of the old thermostat.
Notice you will remove the old thermostat and keep two of the screws (marked green in above drawing) to mount the back half of the chassis to the the holes of the old thermostat fridge mount. Finally the front half of the new thermostat housing clam shell will be affixed with the four provided (marked red in above drawing) screws.
Step 1. Connect up the wiring (Actually this step will precede the previous step, but I've shown it in inverse since the biggest question is going to be how the new thermostat will affix to the wall of the fridge. DANGER: ALL POWER SHOULD BE SHUTOFF FOR BOTH 120vac AND 12vdc BEFORE INSTALLATION!!! 120 Volts and high amperage is enough to kill inexperienced installers, please do not attempt to do the installation if you are not a trained electrical technician with proper methods of handling high amperage and voltage circuitry. We assume no responsibility for either the fix or installer. Again see legal disclaimer and agreement above before installing, as purchase or installation means agreement to those terms.
As one would expect the pair closest to the wheel adjustment marked DC is the DC Power Control pair. Whereas the AC Power Control pair are nearer the top. Further up is a wire and wire nut that allow the device to be connected to the chassis ground. The connectors of both AC and DC wires will exactly match the connectors on the original thermostat part. Just slide on and make sure no contact is allowed to be uninsulated to touch any other wire, if necessary cover any exposed metal with electrical tape, this shouldn't be an issue as they are made to be a direct fit replacement, but we take no responsibility for exposed conductors so be sure to inspect possible shorting of contact conductors with a keen eye and apply any electrical tape wrap if necessary to protect against shorting issues.
Also the chassis wire nut, is disconnected by turning the base and top cap in opposite directions. Then you'd twist the the chassis wire to this thermostat chassis green wire. Place the wire nut top and bottto piece over the twisted joints and screw back over the top. I've included a short usage of these types of wire nuts. Please note that instead of white wires you'll most likely be connecting much thicker green wire and nut, but obviously the operation and usage is the same just bigger wire nuts and wires.
Warning all power should be shutoff before attempting any part of this installation!!!
Step 1b. Twist together the wires of the two chassis ground wires. OEM Articca replacement.
Note! The wires are not order dependent. Connection order of the wires does not matter.
Step 1c. Place bottom of the wire nuts low enough to cover and protect all exposed conductor.
Step 1d. Screw on wire nut over protruding twisted wires.
Step
Warning!
Inspect and reinspect all the wire nuts and wires and make sure that
good insulation is maintained everywhere. Special Thanks to Rich Linden of Maryland for helping make this part a reality.
Also we provide a link to our competitive offering, this alternative kit in my opinion offers no advantages and
costs more in time, money and work. But we feel the company listed offers a very professional and reputable sales force and would recommend them
if you decide to buy our competitor's product:
